Member Groups > Stevenage Symphony Orchestra

The Stevenage Symphony Orchestra was renamed in 1988, although as part of the Stevenage Music Society, it has been working in Stevenage since 1958. It is made up of musicians from Stevenage and the surrounding area. The aims of the orchestra are to provide quality performances of classical music for local people, and to enhance the enjoyment and understanding of the music for its members.

The orchestra meets to rehearse on Wednesday evenings, at the Community Arts Centre on the Roaring Meg retail complex in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. If you would like to join us, or if you can offer help in a non-playing capacity, you will be very welcome - please drop us a line via e-mail.

The Stevenage Symphony Orchestra is seeking sponsorship from local companies and businesses, if you are in a position to help in any way, however small, or if you would like to advertise your business or event in our programmes, please get in touch. The SSO is a member of Making Music (formerly the National Federation of Music Societies) and receives financial assistance from the Stevenage Arts Guild.
